Oil is a very precious resource. It provides the raw material for plastics, pharmaceuticals, and a lot of the energy without that we like for the comforts that we enjoy every day. In my view it is too precious to burn it up in hulking SUVs that get very few miles per gallon. There are much more environmentally friendly choices available that could reduce the use of oil massively. Why waste your money and time at the pump? Even if you do not believe in human-made global warming, saving oil for future generations is responsible. Unless the majority of people reduce their oil use significantly Earth appears doomed. It took millions of years to create the oil that humans are depleting at a rapid pace. I also think it is important to live within ones own means and not at the expense of future generations.

In Washington, in the GOP, you find a lot of Fake Conservatives today. Under Obama they were stalling to spend money when they enacted the 2011 Budget Control Act. They pretended to be so concerned about the deficit. In that phase of the economy additional deficit spending would have helped to reduce unemployment more quickly.

Then under Trump when the US was already close to full employment they enacted the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It was a big give-away to corporations and the rich. The partisan promises that the tax cuts would pay for themselves have turned out to be false as all serious economists had predicted. Now the annual deficit is again back to close to a trillion dollars . So it is proven that Republicans only care about deficits when a Democrat is in the White House. They rather steal from their kids and grand kids! When the bill will come due most of them will not be there to take responsibility and chip in! What happened to the party of personal responsibility?
